21st Century Red – Hungary’s vibrant Kékfrankos

Elizabeth Gabay MW (Sunday, 15th May)

11:00 – 11:45 | Wines of Hungary stand @Hall 11, D20 | language: English

Kékfrankos is Hungary’s most important red variety bottled either on its own or as a blending partner. However its true potential has only recently been revealed thanks to a new understanding of its needs and character. Due to its vibrant acidity Kékfrankos excels in producing bright, fruity and spicy reds in a style highly popular in today’s wine world. The masterclass hosted by Elizabeth Gabay MW aims to showcase the diversity of Kékfrankos, its ability to express its terroir and to respond to the technologies adapted by various winemakers. As a nod to Mrs. Gabay’s field of speciality the flight begins with a Kékfrankos rosé.

We kindly ask all registered attendees for the masterclasses to arrive at the scene of the event at least five minutes prior the start time. After the start time the organizers maintain the right to assign vacant seats to walk-ins. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis at the counter and the tables around it. Thanks for your understanding.

The organizers reserve the right to make changes in the line-up of wines presented at the masterclasses if necessary.
